The mission of the New Life Homeschool Family Ministry is to mentor and support families who homeschool their children in Woodbury and in the surrounding community.
Specifically, this ministry will:
- Encourage and facilitate fellowship and networking among families who homeschool or who are considering homeschooling
- Support, through a voluntary and parent-led homeschool coop, opportunities that expand and enrich student learning in individual homeschools.
Homeschool ACES (Academic & Christian Education for Students) Coop falls under the umbrella of the New Life Homeschool Family Ministry, whose mission is to mentor and support families who homeschool their children in Woodbury and in the surrounding community, so that the Lord Jesus Christ is glorified in our families, in the church, and in our community. Hence, it is more than just a cooperative that meets for classes. It is an establishing tool for families—encouraging husbands and wives in their God-given roles, parents, both singles and couples, in training their children, and children in honoring their parents. The coops seeks to:
- Supplement subjects taught at home
- Provide encouragement and fellowship for homeschooling families within New Life Church and beyond our church family
- Provide ways in which we can reach out to our community.
The Homeschool ACES Coop is not a formal umbrella or alternative school, but is a voluntary, parent-led enrichment group that supplements the learning that occurs in each family homeschool. More than 100 homeschool children from nearly 40 families meet at the coop on Thursdays, 9:15am – 12:30pm, at Five Oaks Community Church. Enrichment classes include art, music, physical education, science, and electives. These classes are taught by parent volunteers.
Equipping Fathers to Lead their Families and Wives to Support their Husbands
Husbands, wives, and single parents are invited to participate in a series of studies and projects designed to equip and strengthen fathers and mothers in their God-given roles as spouses and parents. Husbands will meet six times during the year to study key biblical principles and, in the weeks between meetings, commit to cultivating biblical habits crucial for leading their families. Wives will do a series of parallel studies that support and complement what the husbands are learning. Fathers are also encouraged to bring their teenage sons with them to the dads meetings. All couples or single parents are welcome regardless of their school choice (public school, private school, or homeschool) for their children, as the principles and habits apply to all families.
New Life Homers
This non-travelling summer baseball league offers a relaxed environment for learning and honing baseball skills, inviting neighbors and friends, and meeting other families. About 120 children and youth are organized, with the help of nearly 50 parents, into T-ball, Farm Team, and Major League groups that meet on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 – 11:00am during the summer months. All families are welcome to join!
